It has been estimated that more than 700,000 people are homeless each night, and as many as 2 million people experience homelessness in a year. During the past year, requests for emergency shelter increased an average of 15 percent. And sadly, an average of 25 percent of these requests will go unmet due to lack of space and/or resources.
It is because of these alarming, and increasing, statistics that the Faith-Based Charity exists. This charity offers monetary support to faith-based organizations that provide food for homeless individuals or shelters.
Unfortunately we can not end hunger or homelessness, but we can try control it. And while it may not seem like a lot, even the smallest contribution can mean the difference between sleeping on a park bench or sleeping in a shelter. Or it could be a warm meal for someone who hasn’t had one in weeks.
We are working with local organizations help put a dent in childhood hunger by working with a variety of organizations.
